[New Feature Alert] Improved Disavow File Handling

When we first introduced the “Disavow Links” feature in Ahrefs, you could only see its effect in a single report of Site Explorer:

Inbound Links > Links

Well, you guys wanted to exclude disavowed links from all other Site Explorer backlink reports: Broken Backlinks, Anchors and Referring domains.

And that’s exactly what we did last week!

Ahrefs Disavow Links

In case you’re not familiar with Disavow Links functionality in Ahrefs, let me give you a quick heads up:

1. Disavow Links feature is only available for Standard package and up.

2. Disavow Links only apply to sites that you add to your Campaigns (in Ahrefs Dashboard).

3. You can turn on/off your Disavow Links in Site Explorer reports.

4. You can easily add backlinks and domains to your Disavow File from any backlink report in Site Explorer.

5. You can then manage your disavow list at Dashboard > Disavow Links.

That’s it! Ahrefs Disavow Links feature in a nutshell.

Do you want another cool feature to add? Ok, so this is what happens in real life:
1. You realise for whatever reason that you need to create a disavow file for your site (or your client site). Eg, spammy links, negative SEO etc.
2. You create the main list and add it to Ahrefs as per normal.
3. Later on, you brose around site explorer checking to see if your latest viral campaign worked and you find a few more links which you don’t want in link profile so you click the brilliant Disavow Domain button straight from Ahrefs.
4. Now this is the clever bit, you integrate Ahrefs with Search Console (previously WMT) and you create a button “Submit to Google” (copyright Shai from Rebootonline.com !!!) which will submit to Google directly from Ahrefs.
Brilliant! even if I do say so myself!
I know…. you guys are amazed and you are racking your brain on how you can thank me for such a brilliant idea!. Well, i’m sure I can think of something. Watch this space.

  thanks.. we thought about that before and even checked API of Google Search Console.. and I’m afraid their API won’t allow us to create an integration like that
