Google’s AI Mode turns your traditional Google search into a conversational experience. In classic search, Google shows a list of links and you click through one or more to find your answer. In AI Mode, Google uses its Gemini generative AI model to write a single answer to your question, along with a list of the links it cited from.
You can then ask follow-up questions. AI Mode is also multimodal — you can type, talk, snap a photo, or upload an image to get your answer. If you’ve used ChatGPT or Perplexity, it works the same way.
