Ahrefs is a multinational team with roots from Ukraine and headquarters in Singapore. We are truly a lean start-up company. We value making meaningful and easy-to-use products. We shift things fast to better deliver our customers with what matters most to them, and to keep us ahead of the game with the manifesto "First do it, then do it right, then do it better". The team is rather small. Each and every member brings several talents into the team and carries out various professional duties to constantly improve our products and services.
Let's Take it Back: Ahrefs history dates back to 2011 when our first version of Site Explorer was introduced to the public after one year of thorough preparation and data mining. With the launch of Site Explorer, Ahrefs stirred the stagnant field of backlink analysis and kick-started a new round of competition among SEO tool providers back then and quickly became one of the world's best backlink analysis tools.
From our humble beginnings, Ahrefs has steadily grown. We started out with the first cluster of 6 hand-made servers, gradually moving on to our current powerful 60 TFlops system. Today, our index is updated with the freshest backlinks found on the web every 15 minutes, and the crawler processes up to 6 billion pages a day. Hard to believe – it is only three times less than what Googlebot does!
What's in Our Name? Ahrefs, pronounced as /eɪtʃ'refs/, is originated from the HTML link tag < a href="url"></a> that specifies the destination of the page the link goes to. Our name represents our mission. We focus on versatile backlinks discovery and presentation services. Our goal from the outset is to provide you with competitive backlink intelligence data to help you make your website better.
