They’re important because YouTube mentions are a leading indicator of brand health. Here's some actionable use cases for it.
YouTube is the second most cited source in AI search. More YouTube mentions means more AI citations, which means more business growth.

To measure your brand's YouTube momentum, search for your brand, go to the YouTube visibility report, and switch to the Cumulative view.

This shows your total YouTube mentions growing over time. Not just month-by-month spikes, but the compounding effect of brand awareness.
If the line is climbing steadily, your brand is building momentum. If it's flattening, you might need to invest more in partnerships or content that gets people talking.
You can also toggle “Impressions” to weigh mentions by video views, because a mention in a 100K-view video matters more than one in a 100-view video.
Cold outreach is hard. Warm outreach to creators who already use and talk about your product converts much better.
To find such creators, go to the YouTube report and look at the video list. I’ve selected the past 12 months for my search.
You'll see every video that mentions your brand, along with the channel name, view count, and the exact transcript snippet where your brand appears.
Sort by views to find high-reach creators who already know your product. These are your warmest partnership leads.

Click into any video to see the full context of how they mentioned you, whether it's a passing reference or a genuine recommendation.
From here, you can reach out with a message like: "Hey, I saw you mentioned us in your video about [topic]. We'd love to partner with you on something more formal."
Comparison videos drive high-intent traffic. People searching "Ahrefs vs Semrush" or "best SEO tools 2025" are actively evaluating solutions.
To find these videos, use the filter to search for videos where the title contains both "vs" and your brand name.

The next step is to review them to see how you're being positioned. Are you winning? Losing? Being presented fairly?
Then reach out to creators making these comparisons to sponsor an updated version or to ensure they have accurate information about your latest features and pricing.
