AI Overviews are the AI-generated summaries that now sit above traditional Google results — and their scale is staggering. Google says they reach over 2 billion monthly users across more than 200 countries, roughly a quarter of everyone on Earth. When a domain gets cited here, it’s being surfaced to an audience no other AI assistant comes close to. That also makes AI Overviews a flashpoint for publishers worried about losing clicks. To see which sites Google’s summaries favour, we tracked every domain AI Overviews cited across a broad set of US queries, then ranked them by mention share — each domain’s slice of all the citations the top sources collectively earn. The leader is www.youtube.com, capturing 21.1% of citations.
