What is Thin Content?

Thin content is web pages with little to no authentic content. These pages may have a high word count, but they add no substantial value to users.

Thin content with little or no added value is one of the reasons a website can get a manual action (penalty) from Google.

Many people believe that thin content implies pages with very little written content. But in fact, thin content examples are:

• Automatically generated content
• Thin affiliate pages
• Scraped content
• Doorway pages

Google Panda was the first major change to Google’s search results ranking algorithm targeting low-quality content, including thin content.
