The role

We're looking for an experienced Senior Enterprise Account Manager to join our growing team in North America. This is a critical individual contributor role focused on nurturing and expanding our relationships with our largest, most strategic enterprise clients.

You will leverage your deep understanding of digital marketing and complex organizational dynamics to act as a trusted advisor, driving Ahrefs adoption, retention and upsell opportunities.

Unlike other sales roles, you won't be bound to aggressive sales metrics as all team members are rewarded on overall company performance.

What the job entails

  • Develop and maintain strong, executive-level relationships with client stakeholders, including C-suite and leadership, demonstrating a polished communication style and deep business acumen.
  • Proactively identify and address complex challenges within enterprise organisations, understanding their objectives and potential implementation hurdles for Ahrefs' solutions.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments and collaboratively develop innovative, data-driven solutions leveraging Ahrefs' full suite of tools to meet client goals.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor, capable of educating clients on SEO and AI Search best practices.
  • Orchestrate seamless client onboarding, ongoing custom training, and continuous support to maximise tool adoption.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including product, marketing, and support, to advocate for client needs and ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Drive contract renewals and identify significant upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing enterprise accounts.

The skills you need

Must have:

  • 5+ years of proven experience in account management or strategic client relations, specifically with large enterprise clients (not mid-market), ideally within SaaS or digital marketing.
  • Strong background in digital marketing, including practical SEO experience beyond theory, including (but not limited to) technical audits, on-page optimization, LLM optimization, content strategy or link building.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, with a high degree of polish and professionalism.
  • Proven track record of managing and growing a portfolio of accounts, evidenced by retention and upsell success.
  • Ability to understand and articulate complex technical concepts in a clear, business-oriented manner.
  • Prior experience with the Ahrefs toolset or similar SEO/marketing analytics platforms.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with or within a global, remote-first technology company.
  • A natural curiosity for data and market trends, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Experience using AI tools to work more efficiently and achieve stronger outcomes.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role is directly measured by retention rates of your managed portfolio and account upsell and growth.

You will foster exceptional client satisfaction through seamless onboarding experiences, providing ongoing custom training, and offering continuous strategic support to identify how Ahrefs directly solves their evolving problems and achieves their organizational goals. High tool adoption across client teams will also be a key indicator of your impact.

This role is focussed on the North America market, the successful candidate must be based in North America with the legal right to live and work there.

Who we are

Ahrefs runs an internet-scale bot that crawls the whole web 24/7, storing huge volumes of information to be indexed and structured in a timely fashion. Our backend system is powered by a custom petabyte-scale distributed key-value storage to accommodate all that data coming in at high speed. With this data, Ahrefs builds analytics services for end-users in the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) space and a web-scale search platform. We are a lean and robust team who strongly believe that better technology leads to better solutions for real-world problems.

Our motto is first do it, then do it right, then do it better
