Increase the \u2018authority\u2019 of your&nbsp;pages<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Every webpage has a certain amount of <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/how-to-increase-website-authority\/\">\u201cauthority\u201d<\/a> called <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/google-pagerank\/\">PageRank<\/a> (PR). Google discontinued public PR scores in 2016. Sure, we can take advantage of the links they drive by distributing some of that \u201cauthority\u201d to important pages via <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/internal-links-for-seo\/\">internal links<\/a>. Get more referral traffic<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Backlinks from high-traffic pages can drive referral traffic to your website. Not only can this have a positive impact on your business by driving conversions, but also your SEO. That\u2019s 34 RDs per month, on average. However, the page gets almost no organic traffic. That means those linkers must have discovered our page through other means\u2014most likely from other linking pages that get traffic.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t hard to believe. If we look at the pages that link to our study, quite a few of them get lots of organic traffic:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37043\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/2-traffic-backlinks.jpg\" alt width=\"1999\" height=\"1465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/2-traffic-backlinks.jpg 1999w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/2-traffic-backlinks-580x425.jpg 580w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/2-traffic-backlinks-768x563.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/2-traffic-backlinks-1536x1126.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1999px) 100vw, 1999px\"><\/p>\n<p>If you take a closer look, you\u2019ll see that four of six referring pages with the most organic traffic are on <em>backlinko.com<\/em>. This shows how links from one domain to even a single page can simultaneously send PageRank, referral traffic, and links your&nbsp;way.<\/p>\n<p>The moral of the story is&nbsp;this:<\/p>\n<p>If there\u2019s an opportunity to get a link from a high traffic page, it doesn\u2019t matter if you already have a link from that website. It\u2019s worth pursuing, even if just for the referral traffic.<\/p>\n<div class=\"recommendation\"><div class=\"recommendation-title\">TIP<\/div><div class=\"recommendation-content\">\n<p>If you use Google Analytics, you can see which sites are sending you the most (valuable) referral traffic. And if there is one, pitch the link. You can immediately create notes about the context of their previous links and use them in your&nbsp;pitch.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h2>Final thoughts<\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019m sure you wouldn\u2019t miss an opportunity to be featured on a page that gets tons of traffic\u2014even if the site already links to you.
