After all, users can now get answers by continuously asking questions without having to click on any&nbsp;links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, early research done by SEO agency iPullRank showed that only <a href=\"https:\/\/ipullrank.com\/referral-patterns-ai-mode\">4.5% of AI Mode Sessions result in a click<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9V6tWC4CdFQ\">confirmed in an interview with Lex Fridman<\/a> that AI Mode is the future of search. So, we all have to live with this <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/zero-click-search\/\">zero-click reality<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re looking for a shred of good news, it\u2019s that AI Mode\u2019s adoption has not taken off so&nbsp;far:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/ipullrank.com\/ai-mode-report-july-2025\">study by iPullRank<\/a> showed that over 50% of users tried AI Mode once and didn\u2019t return. It\u2019s all theory at this&nbsp;point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that is not to say there aren\u2019t any ideas. There are some strategies, based on studies done by ourselves and other companies on <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/llm-optimization\/\">LLM optimization<\/a>. Promote your content on UGC&nbsp;sites<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When we <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/ai-assistants-bias-winners-losers\/\">looked at the top 50 sites<\/a> cited in Ahrefs <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/brand-radar\">Brand Radar<\/a> for Google AI Overviews, we saw that AI Overviews leaned heavily on UGC sites like Reddit, Quora, and YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Makes sense: YouTube <strong>is <\/strong>Google\u2019s own property and Google also <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/inside-google\/company-announcements\/expanded-reddit-partnership\/\">signed partnership deals with Reddit<\/a>. I can see why they would favor those sites for AI Overviews and I see no reason why it would be different for AI&nbsp;Mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, even though we didn\u2019t start our YouTube channel to rank in AI search, we\u2019ve benefited from publishing consistently on YouTube since 2018. Use the Atomic Content workflow to structure LLM-friendly content<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>SEOs have known for years that structuring content in a certain way can help a page rank in featured snippets. BLUF gives them the answer right away and allows them to decide if they want to continue. Google\u2019s CEO Sundar Pichai has hinted that it\u2019s a yes, and we\u2019ve also seen Google going full throttle by rolling out AI Mode rapidly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But some SEOs think otherwise. They think Google is merely testing to see if people will use AI Mode. This is why Google has put AI Mode as a separate tab, rather than \u2018force\u2019 users to use AI Mode only. And so far, as we\u2019ve seen, the adoption rate has been&nbsp;low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Personally for me, I think AI Mode will be the default search experience, with web search as a separate tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The genie\u2019s out of the bottle and you can\u2019t put it back ever again.
