This list is built to help you with exactly that.

Contents

Every one of the 80 categories below is something US shoppers searched for measurably more over the last 12 months than the 12 before, based on Ahrefs search data. None of them are branded SKUs, so each one is a category you can actually source from a supplier rather than a specific product you would need a licence or a distribution deal to touch. For each we show search volume, growth, how hard the keyword is to rank for, a typical retail price, and brands already selling it.

Start here: the five with the strongest case

Candle warmers are the standout. 98,000 searches a month, up 102% year over year, and a keyword difficulty of 5, meaning roughly five referring domains would put a page on the first results page. At $15 to $40 retail, it is an easy price point to sell without financing. The catch is timing: demand peaks hard in December, so stock needs to land by October.

Protein sodas are the fastest riser in the set at 667%, from 12,000 searches a month. Carbonated drinks with added protein sit exactly where two existing habits meet, functional beverages and soda replacement, and difficulty is 4. Beverage means shipping weight and shelf life, so it suits a seller who already moves food and drink.

Funny stickers pull 28,000 searches a month at keyword difficulty 0. Nobody has built links against it. Print on demand means no inventory risk and no minimum order, which makes it the lowest-commitment entry on this list. Margins per unit are small, so it works as volume or as an add-on to an existing store.

Ketoconazole shampoos are the biggest category here by raw demand, 104,000 searches a month. It is also the hardest to rank for at difficulty 36, roughly 48 referring domains, and it is a regulated product in the 2% strength. Worth it if you already operate in personal care, probably not a first product.

Water softener systems are the margin play: +240% growth on 2,200 searches a month, at $500 to $3,000 a unit. Higher difficulty at 17 and a considered purchase with installation questions, so it needs real content support rather than a product page. One sale is worth roughly a hundred sticker orders.

What the data says about competition

69 of the 80 keywords sit at difficulty 10 or below. That is the finding worth acting on. These are categories with growing demand where very few pages have earned links, which is unusual, and it happens because product demand moves faster than publishers do. Ahrefs scores difficulty from 0 to 100 on a non-linear scale, where each value maps to roughly how many referring domains a page needs to reach the first page: 0 to 10 is Easy at under 10 domains, 11 to 30 Medium at 11 to 36, 31 to 70 Hard at 37 to 200, and 71 to 100 Super hard at over 200.

Two things to check before you commit

The keyword matters more than the product name. Every card names the exact keyword its numbers come from, in quotes, because variants diverge sharply.
candle warmer
gets 98,000 searches a month while
candle warmers
gets 4,200. Paste the quoted keyword into any keyword tool and you will reproduce our figure. Product names in headings are tidied for readability, so trust the quoted keyword.

Volume is a 12-month average, which hides seasonality. Where a category’s peak month runs more than double its average we flag it, and 27 of 80 carry that flag. 19 of those peak in the same month in both years of data, which makes them plannable, and there is a buying calendar further down with an order-by month for each. The rest spiked once, which is not something to build inventory around.

<g fill="none" fill-rule="evenodd"></g>

The five patterns worth your attention

1. The home café keeps expanding. Ceramic coffee cups are up 193%, and the trend runs deeper than mugs. Pumpkin chai (+86%), dragon fruit syrups (+61%), and budget espresso machines (+118%) are all climbing. People who bought a machine in 2023 are now buying the accessories, syrups and glassware around it. That is a long tail worth stocking.

2. Analogue kitchen tools are back. Manual juicer presses (+561%) and meat grinder machines (+239%) are hand-cranked devices outgrowing their electric equivalents. Likely drivers: a whole-foods cooking shift, distrust of ultra-processed food, and the fact that a $40 hand press lasts longer than a $200 appliance. Low competition too: both sit under keyword difficulty 10.

3. Buyers are shopping by active ingredient. Ketoconazole shampoos (104,000 searches), bee venom serums (+304%), hypochlorous acid sprays (+88%). Shoppers have stopped searching “dandruff shampoo” and started searching the compound on the label. If you sell in this space, put the active ingredient in your product titles. That is where the demand now lands. (We’re describing what people search for, not endorsing what any of these ingredients do.)

4. Screen fatigue is a product category. Screen-free digital cameras (+128%), VHS/TV combo units (+247%), comfort blankets (+198%), needlepoint ornaments (+72%). A cohort is deliberately buying dumber, slower, more tactile things. It is small in volume but the intent is unusually strong and almost nobody is competing, with most at keyword difficulty 0 to 2.

5. Cheap novelty still prints money. Funny stickers pull 28,000 searches a month at keyword difficulty 0, meaning nobody has bothered to rank. Print on demand means no inventory risk. Same story for skeleton sweaters (+258%) and pin maker machines (+65%).

A caveat on the numbers. Ahrefs’ monthly series is partly modelled. Values from August 2026 onward are forecast, and for some keywords the most recent observed months are smoothed rather than measured. Growth here is measured over the 24 observed months only. Where a category’s recent curve looks model-generated we mark it (est.), and 8 of 80 carry that mark, so treat their exact percentages as directional.

<div Most models are used for citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruit, and some heavier-duty versions also handle pomegranates or other soft fruit.

Why it’s growing: Demand is likely being supported by the continued popularity of fresh-juice and at-home beverage routines, especially for citrus and pomegranate juicing, with retailers like Amazon and Target actively merchandising this category. There is also a practical consumer shift toward non-electric, easy-to-clean kitchen tools, since manual presses do not need power and are sold as simple countertop devices for home use. Social video and marketplace listings on TikTok Shop and Amazon suggest the category is benefiting from short-form product discovery and direct-to-consumer kitchen gadget buying.

Water softener systems

Keyword measured:
hard water softener system

Searches per month: 2,200 (12-month average; monthly mean 2,188 over the last 12 months vs 643 the 12 months before)

Year-over-year growth: +240% (total searches 26,258 over the last 12 months vs 7,717 the 12 months before)

Keyword difficulty: 17, Medium (~18 referring domains needed to reach page one)

Typical retail price: $500-$3,000

Brands making it: Culligan, Aquasure

Commonly sold through: The Home Depot, Lowe’s

Research confidence (price + brands): high

A water softener system is a whole-house appliance installed on the main water line that removes hardness minerals, mainly calcium and magnesium, from incoming water. It typically uses a resin tank and a salt/brine tank to swap those minerals out so the water causes less scale buildup, soap scum, and spotting.

Why it’s growing: Demand is likely rising because more homeowners are dealing with visible hard-water problems such as limescale on fixtures, dingy laundry, and reduced soap performance, which are common reasons people start looking for softeners. Interest is also supported by a broader move toward protecting water-using appliances and plumbing from scale buildup, especially in whole-house systems that treat all household water at the entry point. For merchants, the category is also being pulled by the strong distinction buyers now make between true salt-based softeners and salt-free conditioners, which has increased attention on systems that actually remove hardness minerals.

Meat grinder machines

Keyword measured:
meat grinder machine

Searches per month: 3,200 (12-month average; monthly mean 3,201 over the last 12 months vs 945 the 12 months before)

Year-over-year growth: +239% (total searches 38,410 over the last 12 months vs 11,335 the 12 months before)

Keyword difficulty: 8, Easy (~8 referring domains needed to reach page one)

Typical retail price: $30-$300

Brands making it: Weston, LEM

Commonly sold through: Home Depot, Amazon, Lowe’s

Research confidence (price + brands): high

A meat grinder is a kitchen appliance that minces or grinds raw or cooked meat into smaller pieces. Search-interest content also shows a strong split between very low-cost starter machines and a growing interest in higher-value, under-$300 options like the Breville Bambino, suggesting consumers are trading up from basic drip/instant coffee into home espresso setups. Social media content around makeup prep and skin-smoothing rituals has kept the category visible, and retail availability across both budget and premium price points has widened the potential customer base. Retailers such as Saks are running short promotional windows, which can increase urgency and conversion for sale jewelry.

Lab-grown emerald rings

Keyword measured:
lab grown emerald ring

Searches per month: 1,000 (12-month average; monthly mean 1,010 over the last 12 months vs 646 the 12 months before)

Year-over-year growth: +56% (total searches 12,121 over the last 12 months vs 7,752 the 12 months before)

Keyword difficulty: 0, Easy (no referring domains needed to reach page one)

Typical retail price: $300-$3,000

Brands making it: Angara, Helzberg, Grown Brilliance, Diamondere

Research confidence (price + brands): high

A lab-grown emerald ring is a ring set with an emerald that was created in a controlled laboratory environment instead of being mined from the earth. Product assortments from major pet retailers show detangling sprays positioned as routine coat-care items, not just emergency mat removers, which suggests steady consumer use rather than one-off purchases. This uses every observed month, so each period contains every season exactly once. It’s deliberately window-independent: a three-month window can land in a seasonal product’s trough and make trough-vs-trough noise look like growth. That mistake put a “+1,784%” holiday-dress entry at the top of an earlier version of this list, when its November peak was actually flat year over year.

Floor: the prior 12 months must total at least 3,000 searches, so a jump off a tiny base doesn’t register as spectacular growth.

Peak-to-peak check: for every entry we also compared its strongest calendar month across both years. Entries whose peak month was flat or declining were dropped even when a shorter window showed growth. 12 were removed this way, all of them seasonal.

Screening: each surviving keyword was judged on whether it names a physical product category a merchant could stock. Brands, media characters, colouring-page queries, colour names, services and raw agricultural items were removed.

Buyer-guide phrasing: keywords like
best baby carriers
were re-measured on the bare product term (
baby carriers
) rather than displayed under a tidied name while carrying the
best…
metrics. Six entries were dropped when the bare term turned out not to be growing.
best baby carriers
is up 1,500%, but
baby carriers
is flat.
