People who like videos won\u2019t consume your content if it\u2019s a blog post. But repurpose it as a video and they&nbsp;might.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Save money<\/strong>. Making new content is expensive. Embrace the \u2018zero-click\u2019 mindset<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you think about it, content repurposing is a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/content-distribution\/\">content distribution<\/a>. You\u2019re taking bits and pieces of your existing content and dispersing them on other channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here\u2019s where many people trip up. Most marketers\u2019 concept of <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/content-promotion\/\">content promotion<\/a> is to drive clicks. So, they expect that content repurposing will do the&nbsp;same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doing this is a disservice to your repurposing efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter the type of content you produce, they\u2019re ultimately vessels in service of a larger goal: sharing an important idea. For us, that idea is that Ahrefs is the best-in-class SEO tool. So, it doesn\u2019t matter which format we use or whether we get the&nbsp;click.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As long as the idea is lodged in the brains of our target audience, the job is done. That\u2019s why we\u2019re happy to make zero-click content\u2014content that offers valuable, standalone insights without the need to&nbsp;click.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our brand will be top-of-mind for anyone who encounters us on multiple channels and gain value from our content. It doesn\u2019t matter whether they clicked through. Eventually, when it comes time to purchase, we\u2019ll likely be their number-one choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want your content repurposing efforts to go well, you need to embrace zero-click content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-176426-_az9gtabc0o44\"><\/a>2. Find your best-performing content<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s almost impossible to repurpose every single piece of content.\u2014especially if you\u2019re going at it alone. So, you have to prioritize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best way to do this is to focus on content that\u2019s already performing well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While there is no guarantee that content performing well in one channel will perform well in another, it is an indication that there are people who are looking for the&nbsp;topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finding content that\u2019s performing well depends on the primary type of content you\u2019re producing. Start with channels that are similar<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You should start by repurposing your content into formats that are most similar to your primary type of content. For example, if your primary content type is blog posts, you should focus on text-based formats, like X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I recommend this because content repurposing takes effort. Many marketers like to suggest content repurposing as an \u2018easy\u2019 tactic, but that\u2019s not true. Even if the blog post content can be adapted into the video script, you\u2019ll still need to storyboard, record, and edit. That\u2019s a lot of&nbsp;work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why I suggest starting your content repurposing journey with similar channels. (Just make sure your target audience is&nbsp;there.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since I write for the Ahrefs blog, I mainly repurpose my content on LinkedIn and X. Adapt your content for each channel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Every platform has a preferred format, unique culture, and its own algorithm. So, don\u2019t post the same things everywhere and expect it to be a 100%&nbsp;hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, our Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Tim Soulo found that he got differing results when he posted the same thing on LinkedIn and&nbsp;X:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/twitter.com\/timsoulo\/status\/1795025105766023295\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You want to adapt your content for each channel you\u2019re posting in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, say you want to repurpose your YouTube video into a blog post. You can\u2019t just publish your script verbatim. You\u2019d want to optimize the blog post for a target channel, likely Google search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, you need to make sure the article is targeting a topic people are searching for. For example, our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=W-nbsnXtSZI\">video on affiliate marketing<\/a> did well on YouTube. So, I wanted to repurpose it into a blog post.
