Over the years however, they grew unhappy with&nbsp;it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Inadequate keyword data. <\/strong>They found Semrush\u2019s keyword database to be insufficient. According to Optimize 360\u2019s&nbsp;CEO,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>False positives from technical audits. <\/strong>their technical audits were frequently flagging false positive and false negative issues for both their client\u2019s website and their own. Lots of time was wasted working with client webmasters looking for issues that did not&nbsp;exist.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hard to find SEO opportunities. <\/strong>According to their experience, Semrush also tended to be late in reporting semantic SEO data. This made it difficult for the team to discover and respond to SEO opportunities in&nbsp;time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h.ahtc6rhszcnp\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Solution: switch to Ahrefs for best-in-class data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Optimize 360 decided to switch to Ahrefs. They found three main benefits from making the switch:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. More accurate technical SEO recommendations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Using&nbsp;<strong>Site Audit<\/strong>, they finally managed to resolve technical SEO issues flagged correctly on their website. Being able to focus more on deepening their SEO expertise rather than diagnosing discrepancies previously caused by false positives was a great boost for the team\u2019s productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image1-1.png\" alt=\"More accurate technical SEO recommendations\" width=\"1396\" height=\"718\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Optimize 360 found that Ahrefs was more reliable and better than Semrush, particularly in the technical SEO analysis and semantic SEO departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Larger, more accurate keyword database<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ahrefs\u2019 larger&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/big-data\">keyword database<\/a>&nbsp;also allowed for more in-depth semantic analysis by using&nbsp;<strong>Competitor Analysis<\/strong>&nbsp;reports to benchmark against their competitors. For example,&nbsp;<strong>Content gap<\/strong>&nbsp;was used to uncover programmatic SEO strategies their competitors were using. This inspired them to use similar strategies on their own site and saw enormous gains in both share of voice and rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Easier monitoring of keyword cannibalization<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Optimize 360 also managed to identify cannibalized pages for important keywords, something they weren\u2019t able to achieve with Semrush. They used Rank Tracker to monitor important keywords and found both their homepage and their dedicated \u201cSEO Agency\u201d page competing for multiple \u201cSEO agency\u201d related keywords with the same intent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image2-1.jpg\" alt=\"Easier monitoring of keyword cannibalization\" width=\"1999\" height=\"781\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"small\"><div class=\"quote-content\">&nbsp;\n\n\n\n<p>In Semrush, we could only see the keyword position number, without being aware that we had multiple pages ranking closely for the same topic. The&nbsp;<strong>Positions history<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>chart&nbsp;<\/strong>was very helpful in finding out our content cannibalism issues.
