When you create something useful\u2014an article, a product page, even a free tool\u2014it helps to ensure people can find it through search.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>But can you go too far? Keyword stuffing<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Keyword stuffing is the process of cramming a page full of keywords, in an attempt to rank higher for those keywords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll recognize keyword stuffing when you see it: keywords and their synonyms are repeated over and over, in sentences and paragraphs that don\u2019t really make&nbsp;sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Finding the <\/em><strong><em>top mirrorless camera<\/em><\/strong><em> can be a daunting task. Yet, with our comprehensive <\/em><strong><em>best mirrorless camera<\/em><\/strong><em> guide, we simplify the process by ranking the <\/em><strong><em>best mirrorless camera models <\/em><\/strong><em>and the most <\/em><strong><em>reliable mirrorless camera<\/em><\/strong><em> brands.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s good practice to include keywords in relevant places, like titles or meta descriptions: you\u2019re signaling to robots and humans alike that your page is focused on a particular topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But while <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/keywords-for-blog\/\">keyword targeting<\/a> helps pages appear in search results for relevant queries, keyword stuffing can have the opposite effect, turning helpful content into&nbsp;spam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Google, more keywords are not always better\u2014and some pages even rank for keywords they don\u2019t mention. Past a certain point, your continued effort has a smaller and smaller impact on search visibility. Aiming for perfection on Core Web Vitals<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/core-web-vitals\/\">Core Web Vitals<\/a> are metrics used to measure the speed and user experience of a website page, and they form part of Google\u2019s calculations for ranking pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Core Web Vitals measure the performance of your page across three different tests. The page\u2019s performance is scored as either <em>Poor, Needs Improvement, <\/em>or <em>Good.<\/em> For pages that have data available, you can see these scores in Site Audit\u2019s Performance report:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"536\" height=\"370\" class=\"wp-image-168181\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image10-3.png\" alt=\"Screenshot showing the Core Web Vitals report from Ahrefs Site Audit tool\n\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving from one category up to another is good for your users\u2014pages load faster and more consistently\u2014and may even offer a small boost to search rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But while every improvement to your Core Web Vitals serves to make your website a little better, the difficulty and effort required to keep making improvements increases. Fixing every single redirect chain<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A redirect happens when a visitor to a web page <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/301-vs-302-redirects\/\">gets sent to a different page<\/a>\u2014a redirect <em>chain <\/em>happens when several of these redirects happen in a&nbsp;row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example: a visitor to a now-deleted blog post might be redirected to a newer blog post; if that post is deleted, they might be redirected to the blog homepage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"980\" class=\"wp-image-168192\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/3-what-a-redirect-chain-looks-like.png\" alt srcset=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/3-what-a-redirect-chain-looks-like.png 1600w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/3-what-a-redirect-chain-looks-like-680x417.png 680w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/3-what-a-redirect-chain-looks-like-768x470.png 768w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/3-what-a-redirect-chain-looks-like-1536x941.png 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>These redirect chains can get big quite easily, and it\u2019s tempting to spend energy shortening them\u2014but there\u2019s probably little need. Google can technically follow up to <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/crawling-indexing\/http-network-errors\">10 redirects<\/a> before triggering an error, so most of your redirect chains are probably fine, as-is. If you want to play it safe, take <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/bigseo\/comments\/errudz\/hello_everyone_we_have_migrated_our_blog_from\/\">John Mueller\u2019s advice<\/a>: fix redirect chains with five or more \u201chops.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can spot these using Site Audit.
