On the other hand, \u201cLiverpool F.C. in Singapore\u201d is a non-evergreen topic, since it only occurs occasionally (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.redsports.sg\/2009\/07\/27\/liverpool-fc-singapore-football\/\">2009<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolfc.com\/news\/reds-face-crystal-palace-singapore-second-leg-pre-season\">2022<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolfc.com\/news\/lfc-face-leicester-city-and-bayern-munich-return-singapore-pre-season\">2023<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It needs to stay evergreen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The content needs to continue to be relevant long past its publication date.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9BMhFmNzw-o\">video on how to tie a tie<\/a> was published in 2012. But the process remains unchanged, so there\u2019s no need to update it. Google wants to rank only <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/relevant-content\/\">relevant content<\/a>, so it seeks to understand why searchers are searching. So if you want to rank high, you\u2019ll have to match search intent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To identify search intent, look at the top-ranking results for your target keyword. They could simply click any post in the search results and be done with&nbsp;it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You want your content to stand out. To do that, you need to offer a unique opinion or solution\u2014one that other pieces of content do not&nbsp;have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How do you do that? The best way is to <strong>write from personal experience. <\/strong>Everyone\u2019s lived experience is different and, therefore, you\u2019ll be able to provide a point of view that others do not&nbsp;have.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, when I wrote about creating an SEO content strategy, I didn\u2019t provide a generic template. But I want to share a few more tips that\u2019ll help you create better evergreen content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Avoid angles with a short lifespan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Some content marketers love referencing pop culture in their articles. If freshness is important, then ignore this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Refresh your content periodically<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the ideal end state is for your content to stay relevant continuously, sometimes things <strong>do <\/strong>change. New research, thinking, and processes may appear in your industry or for that&nbsp;topic.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When that happens, you want to update your content. The good news is these updates can help boost your page\u2019s search traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, the topic \u201cfree seo tools\u201d is an evergreen topic. And generally speaking, free SEO tools don\u2019t change much. However, no one expected large language models to progress so far, so fast. These three examples came from filtering over <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/big-data\">13.8 billion pages<\/a> in English by organic traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <a href=\"https:\/\/natashaskitchen.com\/meatloaf-recipe\/\">Natasha\u2019s Kitchen \u2013 Meatloaf Recipe<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m not a fan of meatloaf, but many people are.
