This is according to our <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/seo-pricing\/\">SEO pricing survey<\/a>, where we asked 439 SEO providers how much they charge for their services.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For most small businesses and those just starting out,<strong> this is hardly affordable\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luckily, there are a few ways to bring this cost down without hiring amateurs. I\u2019ll explain how later. I\u2019d recommend everyone to audit their site every so often as new issues and opportunities pop up all the time. While not the case with Glen\u2019s audits, some agencies offer them for free (or nearly free) purely so they can upsell you. There\u2019s nothing wrong with this if the audit is useful, but all the less reputable folks send you is a long PDF with hundreds of issues. Without keyword research, you\u2019re going in blind. You have no idea what people are searching for or what you should be trying to rank for. Remember, ranking for things nobody searches for is pointless, as you\u2019ll get no traffic even if you rank #1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-178209-_x9g8ultskbnd\"><\/a>How much will it&nbsp;cost?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s hard to give an exact figure, but probably around $200-$500 for a quality service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is based on <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/5OUD5pXsOC4?si=vAsniS3EtBECXXP1\">our testing<\/a> of three keyword research gigs on Fiverr a couple of years ago. They cost $15, $80 and $150 respectively and none of them were great. This is extremely important to know because you need to give searchers what they want to stand the best chance at ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How would an SEO professional figure this out? By looking for commonalities in the search results\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, the results for \u201cgolf clubs\u201d are all ecommerce category pages promising the lowest prices:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1256\" height=\"1116\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/people-searching-for-golf-clubs-are-budget-consc.jpg\" alt=\"People searching for &quot;golf clubs&quot; are budget-conscious and want to shop around\" class=\"wp-image-178213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/people-searching-for-golf-clubs-are-budget-consc.jpg 1256w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/people-searching-for-golf-clubs-are-budget-consc-478x425.jpg 478w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/people-searching-for-golf-clubs-are-budget-consc-768x682.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1256px) 100vw, 1256px\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This tells you that searchers are in the market for some clubs and want to shop around. They\u2019re also price-conscious and aren\u2019t looking for expensive sets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Historically, the providers of cheap keyword research services probably wouldn\u2019t have given you this information because it took actual manual work to figure out. These days, with AI, that\u2019s not really the&nbsp;case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Ahrefs, for example, identifying search intent is as easy as clicking the AI-powered \u201cIdentify intents\u201d button. If you\u2019re happy to reply to reviews and spend a bit of time each month keeping everything updated, then no. Do you need new products or menu items added? Having someone you can ping to do this stuff saves&nbsp;time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Replying to reviews<\/strong>. I\u2019d especially recommend this one if you\u2019re the type to get a bit snarky in response to bad reviews. I\u2019ve seen business owners do this many times, and it always makes things worse. Having someone who isn\u2019t emotionally invested in the business reply can&nbsp;help.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Posting updates<\/strong>. Having someone repurpose and post updates you post on other platforms like Instagram or TikTok can make life easier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Cost-wise, it depends on how much needs to be done. If your business is popular and gets hundreds of reviews a month, it\u2019s obviously going to cost more.
