branded illustration, like this one from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/asana\">Asana<\/a>:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1190\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image6-9.jpg\" alt=\"Branded illustration banner from Asana\" class=\"wp-image-157513\" relatively popular choice, with 14% of SaaS companies opting for&nbsp;them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s an example from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/InVisionApp\">InVision<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1196\" height=\"676\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image34.jpg\" alt=\"Product illustration banner from InVision\n\" class=\"wp-image-157515\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image34.jpg 1196w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image34-680x384.jpg 680w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image34-768x434.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1196px) 100vw, 1196px\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This demonstrates how its collaboration features work without falling into the trap of showing cluttered screenshots of the literal UI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, while these kinds of banners work well on desktop, they\u2019re rarely great on mobile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, much of InVision\u2019s banner is obfuscated by the notch and UI elements on my iPhone:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1502\" height=\"878\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image14-7.jpg\" alt=\"Banner elements often get obfuscated on mobile\u2014be careful!\" class=\"wp-image-157517\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image14-7.jpg 1502w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image14-7-680x397.jpg 680w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image14-7-768x449.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1502px) 100vw, 1502px\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Even without the obfuscation, the product text is super tiny and hard to read. They help reinforce your brand identity and tell potential followers what you\u2019re all&nbsp;about.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>14% of companies feature their products <\/strong>\u2013 It makes sense to swap out your \u201cdefault\u201d banner for this to coincide with product announcements. Just remember to design them with mobile UIs and notches in&nbsp;mind.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>24% of companies feature something else <\/strong>\u2013<strong> <\/strong>It\u2019s probably best to avoid zany and vague banners unless you\u2019re a household brand or are trying to tie your Twitter presence to an advertising campaign. So why am I even bothering to mention it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer is that I want to draw your attention to a mistake some brands make, which is being hell-bent on using their full text-heavy logo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t get me wrong. There\u2019s nothing wrong with including your full logo when it has a short \u201chorizontal length.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take Wix, for example:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"332\" height=\"438\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image47.png\" alt=\"Wix Twitter profile photo\n\" class=\"wp-image-157536\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image47.png 332w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image47-322x425.png 322w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 332px) 100vw, 332px\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This works just fine. They\u2019re vague and unhelpful in most cases. As for telling potential followers what they can expect from you, that makes sense\u2014especially if you only post very specific things on Twitter like product updates.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Personal touches are\u2026 <em>a nice touch<\/em> <\/strong>\u2013<strong> <\/strong>Hardly any SaaS brands do this, but I think adding \u201cTweets by I\u2019d stay clear of branded hashtags unless you\u2019re promoting them elsewhere. If you like a brand enough to follow it on Twitter, there\u2019s a chance you might be interested in working for&nbsp;it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Blog post <\/strong>\u2013<strong> <\/strong>Specifically, one that explains the benefits of \u201czero-party data,\u201d which is what its product helps business owners collect.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Landing page <\/strong>\u2013 This is for its \u201cbrand accelerator program\u201d (an initiative to help black-owned small businesses grow).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Press release<\/strong> \u2013 This talks about how it made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/lists\/cloud100\/\">Forbes\u2019 list of the top 100 private cloud companies<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Homepage<\/strong> \u2013 Ah\u2026 we got there eventually!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"sidenote\"><div class=\"sidenote-title\">Sidenote.<\/div> The page also links to a campaign to \u201cnominate an amazing woman in ecommerce,\u201d but it\u2019s a&nbsp;404.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"recommendation\"><div class=\"recommendation-title\">Key takeaways + our advice<\/div><div class=\"recommendation-content\">\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>95.7% of companies (if they have a profile link) link to their homepage <\/strong>\u2013 I\u2019d recommend this for pretty much every SaaS company too. It\u2019s a solid choice and helps potential followers learn more about what you&nbsp;do.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>4.3% link elsewhere <\/strong>\u2013<strong> <\/strong>Mostly to a Linktree (or similar). This makes sense, as there\u2019s really no better way to demonstrate a product feature or explain what your software does. It also allows you to fit more information into your tweet than you\u2019d be able to with 280 characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"sidenote\"><div class=\"sidenote-title\">Sidenote.<\/div> The tweet character limit for Twitter Blue subscribers is technically 4,000. However, a) not all brands have Twitter Blue and b) 4,000 characters are apparently between 571 and 1,000 words on average\u2014who in their right mind wants to read that much copy in a plain text&nbsp;tweet?<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>10.9% of brands feature an event, contest, challenge, or&nbsp;poll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s an example from Litmus:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1182\" height=\"1416\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image30-1.jpg\" alt=\"Litmus' pinned tweet announces an upcoming conference\n\" class=\"wp-image-157594\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image30-1.jpg 1182w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image30-1-355x425.jpg 355w, https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image30-1-768x920.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1182px) 100vw, 1182px\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Obviously, these aren\u2019t just \u201cset it and forget it\u201d pinned tweets.
