Here are some to consider:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-171574-_vcxmgphwto65\"><\/a>1. Your website\u2019s history<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>By virtue of their age, older websites tend to have more pages, content, backlinks, and <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/seo\/glossary\/website-authority\">website authority<\/a>. As a result, they rank for more keywords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, newer websites need more effort and resources to get off the ground. Google\u2019s John Mueller <a href=\"https:\/\/www.searchenginejournal.com\/google-rankings-for-new-sites-could-fluctuate-for-up-to-a-year\/372109\/\">has even said<\/a> that it could take up to a year for Google to figure out where to rank new sites. (This is likely what SEOs believe to be the <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/google-sandbox\/\">\u201cGoogle sandbox\u201d<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-171574-_gvmawy89rxtc\"><\/a>2. Your resources<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s true for anything in life, and it\u2019s true for SEO too. Or you could invest in SEO tools and make your work easier, faster, and more efficient. Your competitors are probably doing SEO too. You could build up slowly to your crucial keywords by first targeting low-competition topics that have business value. Domain Rating (DR) is our website authority metric.
