So even if you\u2019ve chosen the perfect niche, it will take a long time for you to build an audience that you can monetize to generate blogging income.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hence, compared to something, e.g., freelance&nbsp;writing, where you earn money after every article you write, a blog requires a lot of consistent hard work and&nbsp;time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is why having the right mindset is critical. Here\u2019s my advice to anyone looking to start a&nbsp;blog:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Start a blog for the long haul, as it can take multiple years to see any significant results<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Block a time (e.g., around 30 minutes) every day for blogging&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focus on content quality and promotion rather than revenue in the early stages<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t blog full-time unless you have a predictable income coming in every month and\/or have a comfortable emergency fund<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h.3d6rk0k6sdcq\">Step 3. And joining most of them is fairly simple.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h.z4y4n54cl8hb\">How does affiliate marketing work?&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>When you join any affiliate program, you\u2019re given a unique referral link. Any sale generated through this link is attributed to you for a certain period of time (usually one to two months).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies pay a percentage of the total sales generated from your link in the form of <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/affiliate-marketing-income\/\">affiliate revenue<\/a>.
