Link building is all about making other sites link to you.
It was quite easy a few years ago, when almost every single site had a “resources” or “friends” page with lots of links. But it’s ridiculously hard today.
You can’t just reach out to a hundred websites in your niche saying:
- Hey, I have a cool website about X, can you please link to it from this page on your site?
I mean you won’t get any links this way.
In fact, no one will even reply to your email.

If you see that some site is linking to ALL of your competitors, but not you — the odds are that he just doesn’t know about you yet.
And simply reaching out and introducing yourself might be everything you need to secure a link there.
