How To Create ‘Linkable Assets’ For Your Website
NOTE: if you’re enjoying my “Oversimplified SEO” series I invite you to subscribe to Ahrefs YouTube channel.
The success of your “linkable asset” is pre-determined by two simple things:
1. A killer idea that people will eagerly link to;
2. An audience of people who are likely to link to you (the so-called “linkerati”).
As Pablo Picasso famously said:
Which means that the best way to make sure that you’re going to create a killer “linkable asset” is to check what works for your competitors.
With Ahrefs that’s incredibly easy to do.
Just put the website of your competitor into Site Explorer and go to the Top Pages report.
This way you’ll actually get both: the idea of a cool “linkable asset” that attracted tons of backlinks and the full list of websites that have linked to it.
All you need to do at this point is create something better than the original and reach out to everyone who is linking to it.
But as you can tell – that’s easier said than done. So I invite you to watch my today’s video for some more details about this strategy.
