It would have been a more interesting case study with a better niche, a couple weeks is also a very limited time frame. There's strong evidence that black hat strategies still work if well executed ( this wasn't well executed at all ). However, I agree with other users that for a client's website or for any long term website - wouldn't even consider it.

I bought the links from Sarkar I went up from nowhere to page three for most of my keywords I was paying for. Lasted only for about a week then they started going down as I started losing links real fast. So I started building expired web 2.0 links instead and an interesting thing happened, whenever I lost Sarkar's backlinks (I usually lost an average of 10 a week), I would drop in rank to the 90s then the following week I would be back stronger in the 50s and some on the 30s. Seems to be improving every week every loss of Sarkars links and indexing of my web 2.0 pushes me higher. I think Sarkar's links are toxic and on irrelevant pages and my web 2.0 which are highlky relevant are having an overall good impact even if they are fewer than Sarkar's links.

Part 1 was certainly more exciting :) but thanks for doing this experiment so that others' curiosity can be satisfied. Any feedback on % of these links being at least somewhat contextual?

If you try to rank anything with "spun" crap, then you aren't even playing in the big leagues. Sure you can get away with sniping tiny niches, but to get the real rankings you need true authority.

Obviously BHW services are for churn & burn sites, not for an actual legit business site. Though I do find it comical (and sometimes sad) how many people buy black hat services for white hat sites.
